Hari Kothi

Hari Kothi, named after Lord Vishnu, is a historic property in Dharamshala, India.
The estate was bought by His Highness Raja Sir Bhuri Singh of Chamba in the 1880s and given to his daughter, Rani (subsequently Rajmata) Rattan Dei of Kutlehar.
Hari Kothi is a colonial jewel constructed in the traditional Himalayan technique of ‘dhajji’ and is one of the oldest buildings in the region.
The landmark estate has been the hub of social activity for over a century and has hosted numerous Heads of State, Princes, Princesses and other distinguished guests, Swami Vivekananda too stayed here during his visit to the hill station in 1897.
All the rooms in Hari Kothi have wooden flooring and are strewn with antique furniture, remarkable photographs from royal India and objects of historic significance, which reflect the rich heritage of the building.
The four acre mature gardens are home to numerous species of Himalayan birds and plants, a natural water spring and spectacular views of the Kangra valley.
